Top Factors to Learn about Gluing and Folding

Gluing and folding are two prime objectives of every packaging. Understanding different phases of packing development might be valuable for building a successful design. Besides adhesives, brand management teams must understand how multiple folds can create a specific packaging design. Here are the facts about gluing and folding for packing design:

Latex Adhesives

Introducing what folding is -

Automated folding & gluing is a process that transforms flat die-cut material into a finished folding carton, envelopes, or promotional material. The process may save vendors & buyers a thousand dollars in hand assembly expenses.

Outlining the process of gluing or folding -

The very first step is to configure the machine for premium quality production. The operator does it manually. In the next step, the flat material gets stacked on automated friction on the basis of the feeder. Here, it’s imperative to feed the pieces consistent and straight for quality purposes.

While producing folding cartons, pieces get pre-broken on ceases. The step creates a force required for processing the automated fillers.

Adhesive Application -

Hold or cold melt adhesive gets applied to the carton before final folds. Latex adhesives get applied using the laser detection system & glue valves that will function promptly at the high run speed. The cold glue may get applied using the glue wheel for a seamless change-over rate & consistency.

As soon as the adhesive gets applied, the last folds will take place near the line’s end. They get stacked on that transfer section. In the transfer section, the non-conforming pieces will get rejected via a barcode scanner. The rest get stacked on the conveyor belt, where the pressure gets applied for adhesives to bond effectively.

After this, the finished product gets automatically or manually pulled from that transfer section. It gets quality checked & packed for shipping.

A majority of folders or gluers get designed to be versatile and can get configured in multiple ways to satisfy the requests of customers. The materials include are:

  •       Heavy solid board
  •          Carton board(using folding carton adhesives)
  •          Paper
  •          Semi-rigid plastics
  •          Corrugated board

Note that the process does not stay limited to the use of the materials mentioned above only.
