Natural – It can be found in animal sources such as beeswax, albumin and animal glue, wax or oil, protein, carbohydrates, minerals such as sulfur, phosphate, ambin, and paraffin.

Synthetic Adhesive – these include the:

a.     Elastomers – Polyesters, Vinyl polymers, polyvinyl acetate, alcohol and chloride, acetate, and ethyl cellulose.

b.    Thermoplastics – the very common epoxy, melamine-formaldehyde, urea, phenolic epoxy, nitrile, and neoprene.


 Uses of Adhesives -

Adhesives significantly impact humans because it helps them make life uncomplicated. Here are some:

1.    For pharmaceutical and biomedical applications

2.    For industrial application

3.    For packaging

4.    For manufacturing

5.    For machinery and equipment

What is a water-based adhesive?

Also known as waterborne adhesive, this sealant composts two substrates that, once formed with water, quickly evaporate into a substrate that sticks the glue on any surface. But for the adhesive to leave behind, you need to see that the surface is dry and not watery. 

 

Types -

A water-based adhesive has two types which include the:

a. Soluble Synthetic Polymers – the ingredients have cellulose ether, carboxymethylcellulose, polyvinyl alcohol, and polyvinyl pyrrolidine.

b. Natural Polymers usually come from vegetable sources such as starch, dextrins, and protein sources, including milk albumen, soybean, and casein. Also, it has animals contain such as bones and hides.

 

Why use water-based adhesives?

- It is not harmful to the environment or people.

- It is safe and easy-to-use

- It is highly flexible

- It is durable and re-active

- It is proven effective
